Utopia

All day everyday the streets are a glow. People of all different backgrounds fill these streets, contently chatting, and constantly smiling. No discrimination is present; the community has an unspoken understanding of one another. Crime is unheard of, and quite frankly unnecessary. Everyone has warm meals on the tables of their spacious homes, yes you heard right, everyone! The economy is in a never ending high. Freeing people to pursue whatever career they desire, without fear of not being able to provide or low income.  The schools and universities are overflowing with eager students; education is not pushed but pined for. Most of the students genuinely enjoy learning, but those who don't are not forced to go. Alternatives are always available, insuring that the small group may still achieve a place at their dream job. Overall the entire population is able to live life to its fullest, this can clearly be seen by simply walking down the street. Homes are full of families feasting, libraries are packed with students studying, and every business is booming. The times of darkness and depression have passed, now only laughter echoes through the large city. Wherever you are, a helping hand will always be there to guide you. It is, in simplest terms, heaven.

The lonely streets are covered with the scattered remains of buildings, and once precious belongings of citizens. War has ravaged this city, and stolen the people's humanity with it. Government is non-existent; a new group with better weapons steals what goods are left each nightfall. They always pick a new member to join them, whether they like it or not. The hand full of civilians left search for what ever food they can find, portions found in garbage is precious. Don't kid yourself; the people are even colder than the freezing temperatures. Daily fights break out over territory, if you're smart you don't dare to intervene. The skeletons of once magnificent buildings are now considered home, but no building is truly safe. Shadowy spirits still lurk in the darkness, haunting the kind-hearted souls that remain. Shrieks and cries no longer startle civilians, the quick change in scenery has forced them to become tough. The devil is no longer your biggest fear, life itself is.
