Utopia - Jacob Way

Perfect Society
As the sun peeks over the horizon, everyone begins to wake. The rooster crows, and everyone comes out for fresh air. As the citizens congress, they all say “Good morning” and greet one another. Everyone believes in integrity and kindness. They all wear different clothes and everyone is diverse. There are people from everywhere around the world. There are Chinese, Japanese, Asians, Muslims, and Americans. No one seems to be bothered by it, because that’s the way it is in their society. Everyone owns their own land, but they may share if they please. There are no laws in this particular society, no one breaks the rules and all are free. Everyone trusts each other, that’s another belief: trust. Eternal trust and belief in each other is the basis of the culture. Some are singing, some are conversing, some are sitting, and some are standing. All have one thing in common, all are equal. Equality is not taken for granted, but a prized trait to the people. There is no government; all decisions are decided by a majority rule. No one argues, and no one is left excluded. All is fair. All is positive. All is right. All is perfect, the perfect society.

Not So Perfect Society

As the people awake, they peer outside. It is in the middle of a rainstorm. People turn on the news, another robbery. Another robbery, another bombing, another shooting, another school shut down, another percent added to poverty, another day in a horrible society. A few people go out of their homes now and again to get the mail, or to get in their car, but no one talks to each other. Everyone seems to be strangers. There are police everywhere, and not a soul can go any where without the authorities knowing where they are going. All the citizens wear a tracking device because the government can’t trust them. There are walls up around the city limits, and no one is allowed to leave town, a not so perfect society.
